Kayak Fishing
Introduction
Kayak fishing has newly emerged as one of the most popular segments of sport
fishing, but currently, very few main line fishing charter operations can boast
of providing such an experience. At Speck-Tackler Sport Fishing we pride
ourselves in been one of the first main line Charter operators to offer kayak
fishing trips!
Our Kayak guides are highly experienced in kayak fishing and all of our kayaks
are equipped with all the safety equipment as per USCG standards. These kayak
trips are a part of the trademarked 'On Fish Kayak Fishing Experience'.
Traditional shore deployed kayak trips
The kayak is a wonderful platform for moving on fish with stealth providing a
fantastic fishing experience. Our kayaks are specially outfitted Heritage Kayaks,
which are fully rigged for fishing purposes. Our safety equipment inside every
kayak includes first aid kits, VHF radio, life jackets and associated USCG
complaint safety equipment. In addition, we also have rod holders, anchors
and live bait well.
We launch our kayaks from the shore and fish for popular species such as
Flounder, Red fish and Speckled Trout in the salt-water marshes. These are
located in IWC areas behind Wrightsville Beach, Topsail Isle and Carolina Beach.
These sheltered and calm water areas provide ample fishing experiences.
Depending on your fishing objectives, the kind of fish you wish to catch
and the weather conditions on the day of your trip, we choose the appropriate
deployment locations to place you on the best fishing spots. The 5 or 6 hour
half day trip costs 180 dollars per person.
“On fish” Kayak fishing experience
The "On Fish" Kayak Fishing Experience combines the holistic benefits of regular
fishing charters with the stealth mode fishing technique of a kayak! Our specially
equipped kayaks leverage the charter boat as the mother ship. The kayaks, with up
to four anglers as well as tackle and fishing equipment are transported on the
mother ship into identified inshore fishing Hot spots.
On reaching the fishing spot the Kayaks are deployed from the Mother Ship which
we then use as a base. Our fishing guide will be located in the mother ship sight
tower which gives him exceptional fish sighting ability. The guide will
communicate the location of sighted fish via VHF to each Kayak to ensure optimum
chances for fish strikes.
This unique methodology offers a truly sensational kayak fishing experience.
While individual shore deployed kayak fishing expeditions can sap your energy
and need plenty of paddling, our On Fish kayak fishing trips are less strenuous
and quickly place you in locations with fish. Some of the fish species we catch
include Sea Trout, Flounder, as well as Redfish (Red Drum). The total cost of a
5 or 6 hour "On Fish" kayak fishing trip is 195 dollars per person.
